2014 Ordinations

25 February, 2015

The Province’s largest ordination class to-date was ordained to the Priesthood at the Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Seven men were ordained to the Priesthood, as well as five men were ordained to the Order of Deacon. Another first also occurred during the celebration, as it was the first time that the Mass of Ordination was held in the Basilica’s Upper Church.

Those men ordained to the Priesthood were:

Fr. Miguel Cordova, Fr. Jonathan Dumlao, Fr. Alfredo Quintanilla, Fr. Thomas Steinke, Fr. Andrew Whiting, and Fr. Richard Yevchak.

Those men ordained to the Transitional Diaconate were:

Nicolas Cabrera, Nathaniel Dreyer, William Duraney, Fernando Flores, and Juan Pablo Palacio.

Following the Mass, there was a dinner reception attended by numerous family and friends of those ordained, as well as members of the Religious Family and the Third Order. After dinner was served the usual evening entertainment began with performances by many of the IVE and SSVM communities. One performance to note was that of the IVE High School Seminary band. Since the minor seminary opened its doors in 2008, the priests and seminarians have made the trek from Mankato, MN by bus to witness the extraordinary celebration of the newly ordained and to perform at the reception.

Finally, the First Masses for all the newly ordained were held the Sunday after the ordination at the seminary parish or local parishes in the Greater DC area.
