About the March
Annually in January, crowds of families, priests and drum-towing religious gather together and march on the streets of downtown Washington, DC, to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Before the march, the IVE seminary hosts a Mass for Life, breakfast, and a series of conferences and group sessions designed to educate participants on various life-related issues. After the march, participants return to the seminary for hot chocolate. The day ends with Evening Prayer and a dinner featuring live musical acts and a show.
About the Winter Youth Festival
Following the March for Life events on Friday afternoon, Friday evening kicks-off our annual Winter Youth Festival at the Ven. Fulton Sheen Seminary. The Youth Festival, which is modeled after our summer event runs until Sunday. Youth from eigth grade to seniors in high school are encouraged to take part in the event, which features formative talks, time for sports and competitions, Adoration and Confessions, Holy Mass, and time to hang-out with religious priests, seminarians and sisters from our Religious Family. Meals are provided, but to cover the cost we ask that each participant pay $45.00 for the whole weekend. If particular groups need housing arrangements we can always make those for you.
This year’s theme will focus on the words of Jesus to His disciples, of yesterday and today, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
