May 3rd – Feast of “Cristo de la Quebrada” (Christ of the Quebrada)
Day of the Foundational Grace
A miraculous Discovery: In the province of San Luis, Argentina, is the village of the Quebrada, in which there is a little chapel that houses the Christ of the Quebrada, venerated on the third of every May.
This crucifix was found inside the trunk of a tree, when the young Tomás de Alcaraz went to get wood in a forest of locust trees. It was the middle of the XIXth century when the man heard a lament and sought among the branches until he found the tree from which the sound came. He approached with care and descried a crucifix; on that very spot he raised an altar, and this is the place where the image is adored to this day.
The sculpture, of polychrome wood, is 30 centimeters high and its style is Indo American. It is protected in a cross made of forged iron, with carved crystals, and also goes out in procession during Holy Week.

The Joy of the Priestly Vocation
Father Johntin, who is my companion of the mission in Tanzania, today celebrates 10 years as a priest. Some will remember that on April 9th, 2014 he had an unfortunate accident on the motorbike while returning from a visit to a village, and since then has been convalescing on account of his leg. He has already had five operations, and this month is awaiting another. He has already been in Italy for two years, and is still recuperating. We consider him a most important member of our mission, since he remembers us, prays for us, and offers his sufferings. For that reason, he continues to be our companion in the mission…

May, Month of Mary, France
Every Friday in May we go up to the Saint Joseph chapel in procession, and pray the rosary in order to honor our heavenly mother. We remember that since February 10th, 1638, France is officially dedicated to the Most Holy Virgin, following the vow pronounced by King Louis XIII. We take advantage of this month dedicated to her, to thank the Mother of the Savior for her powerful protection and to surrender, with trust and hope, the future of our beloved Motherland into her gentle hands.
