Beginning a new foundation in Orvieto, Italy

It was with great joy that we shared some photos of last Sunday, November 18, the feast of the Dedication of the Duomo of Orvieto (year 1290). On the occasion of this important feast the Community Servants of the Lord (SSVM) (invited by the Bishop of the Diocese of Orvieto Todi, Mons. Benedetto Tuzia) was officially welcomed into the Duomo.

We thank God who allows us to offer our service and develop our apostolate in such an emblematic place for the whole Universal Church. The Duomo of Orvieto guards one of the most important Eucharistic miracles, the miracle of Bolsena, which motivated Pope Urban IV to proclaim the Universal Feast of Corpus Domini in the Bull “Transiturus of the World” on August 11, 1264,.

During the Holy Mass the new community was presented. The Mass was celebrated by Don Stefano Puri, Archdeacon President of the Capitolo del Duomo and concelebrated by the canonical capitulars of the Duomo, by Father Caparrós (provincial of the IVE) and some other priests of the Institute.

The mothers of the general government were present including the Provincial, Mother Maria de Jesus Doliente and numerous SSVM sisters.

After Mass during a reception, we were able to share with those present a beautiful moment of singing.

The apostolate that the sisters carry out is to collaborate in sacristy, liturgy, perpetual adoration in the Chapel of the Body, cleaning of the various chapels and altars, artistic and catechetical guide of the different groups, catechism, formation for catechists and communion of the sick.

Concert in San Rafael – Argentina

Commemorative concert for the 25th anniversary of the Domenico Zipoli Institute, in St. Raphael the Archangel Cathedral. The choirs Santa Cecilia and Magnificat participated, as well as three vocal soloists from Mendoza: Sandra Pionetti (soprano), Gloria López (mezzosoprano) and Cristian Mella (tenor). The performance of the pianist Ynes Batura was also highlighted.

The closing song was “La Messa di Gloria”, by Giacomo Puccini”. The concert was conducted by Fr. Edgardo Catena together with Father Luis Facello.

Our God is a God of compassion and comfort.” – St. John II, the friend of the sick.

In the fall, we began again one of our important apostolates in our parish: visiting the sick. We have been doing this once a week, every Wednesday night. We have been visiting them in nursing homes and helping priests bring them the sacraments. The sick have had the opportunity to receive the sacraments of confession and the Holy Eucharist….

Pilgrimage to the Monasteries of Wady El Natrum in Alexandria – Egypt

Last Saturday the aspirants went on pilgrimage to the ancient monasteries in Wadi el Natrun, located between Cairo and Alexandria. Built around the 4^th century, it is one of the three oldest large monastic centers in Egypt, which is still in use today. There were up to 50 monasteries of which only 4 remain. Several Holy Monks are venerated there, including St. Ammon, St. Arsenius, St. John the Dwarf, St. Macarius of Egypt, St. Macarius of Alexandria, St. Moses the Moor, St. Bishoi, Saints Maximus and Domatio, St. Poemen and St. Samuel the Confessor.

Confirmation Day

On Wednesday we had a Retreat day for confirmandis and their parents and godparents in the parish.

The children of the youth group “Voces del Verbo” organized the event.

About 850 people participated.

St Isidro School volunteers in Chile

On November 10 and 11, about 100 people came to our convent in La Pintana, including mothers, fathers, students and former students of the school of San Isidro de Buin, to volunteer in our house.

They arranged the garden, catechism rooms, tidied up, painted and made a mosaic for the front of our chapel.
