Announcement of the death of Fr. Daniel Vitz IVE

Dear All:

Today, Good Friday, at 3: 00 p.m., at the beginning of the celebration of the Passion of the Lord in Rome, 9: 00 a.m. in Washington DC, Fr. Daniel Vitz, IVE passed away. We received the news while we were celebrating the death of our Savior. Amidst the sadness, however, we couldn’t call this a loss but a gain for our religious family; for all of us he was an incredible priestly example.

Father Daniel was not able to stay in a mission, where he could face martyrdom as it was his desire, but the Lord took the wish of his heart, and he lived his own Calvary and the martyrdom of his acceptance to the will of God with great charity and devotion. He was a moving example of priestly participation in the sufferings of Christ, that he carried in his body faithfully throughout his sickness.

Please, join us in prayer, particularly at the celebration of the Eucharist as we pray for the repose of his soul, and the comfort of his family.
